Whether you want cleaner fonts to use with Open Office or some really awesome fonts for GIMP, know that you're not limited in any way by using Linux. Adding fonts to LInux is easy, just follow the guide below.

Ubuntu doesn't exactly come with a great selection of base fonts. For that reason, I've listed a few font packages that will get you started. You can search for and install any of these through Synaptic or by entering sudo apt-get install followed by the package name below into the shell prompt. If you still want more fonts, check out my write-up on installing your own true-type fonts.
