Advanced Settings

Windows has many bells and whistles when it comes to appearance that most of us wouldn't mind doing without. Personally, I don't care if my menus have shadows, fade effects, etc if it's going to slow down my system. Follow these steps below to relieve some strain from your computers resources without making your Windows look like the dreaded Millenium Edition.

  • Right-click My Computer
  • Select Properties
  • Click to select the Advanced tab
  • Click the Settings button under Performance
  • Click to select Custom
  • Select only the bottom two (2) options
  • Click OK to save the new settings
  • Click OK again to close the System Properties dialog
